End Frets

Summary: Very early pattern of hexagonal flat two-layered Amboyna wood fretwork. Deep sided, with the sides lapping over the raised action "nest Frame". The ends have mounting slats glued around the inner edges of their underside, which assists the ends to nest into the action frame.

End Shape: Hexagonal

End Sides: Six

End Diameter: 147mm

End-Profile: Flat

End Material: Two-ply fine-grained Amboyna wood, with intricate, fine and near perfect fretting

End Bolts: Very flat cheese-head brass bolts.

End Stamps / Labels: Oval silver plaque, "His Maj" engraving, screwed to the end with two small blued steel screws.

Label Embouchure Pattern: None

Strap Screw-insert type: Inset rectangular brass screw-fittings to side, each secured by two brass screws.

Finger-rest: Later black leather-clad curved end brass finger-rests, added at West Street.

Fret Condition: Very fine

Damage Summary: Very fine condition.
