Reeds and Reed Pans

Reed Pans Summary: Shallow pans with no central hole, the chambers in a rectilinear layout. The pan is secured with eight triangular corner mounts. The chambers have red leather-capped dividers, and the reeds have brass reed-frames, steel reeds, the tongues secured with domed steel screws holding down brass cross pieces. Pan inset flush to bellows-frame.

Reed Pans Main Labels: "Wheatstone 32324" ink-stamped on inner face of reed pan

Reed Pans Serial Numbers: "1" stamped in top outer chamber.

Reed Pans Gasketry: Red leather.

Reed Pans Right Hand Cross Pieces: None

Reed Pans Left Hand Cross Pieces: None

Reeds Summary: 24 wedge profiled, round-ended brass reed frames, 12 on RH reed pan, 12 on LH reed pan. Steel reed-tongues, with pairs of small steel securing screws, holding down the tongue via a brass cross-piece.

Reed Tongue Material: Steel reed-tongues.
