End FretsSummary: Later style, less intricate (but still hand-cut) pattern of hexagonal flat single-ply rosewood, with embouchures for maker's label and for a serial number (both present, but each in replacement form). The divided end arrangements of Fretwork-frame and action frame are of Rosewood veneer. End Shape: Hexagonal End Sides: Six End Diameter: 156.5mm. End-Profile: Flat End Material: Single-ply hand-cut rosewood with fair condition fretting, (some slight damage to LH) of a similar pattern to earlier sub-1000 serial number models. End Bolts: Shallow-profile cheese-head brass bolts - an early use of these more conventional bolts in the early Wheatstones in the Collection. Fret Pattern: Early Charles Wheatstone 1840s pattern; a less intricate (but still hand-cut) pattern of hexagonal flat single-ply rosewood, with embouchures for maker's label and for a serial number. Label Embouchure Pattern: Oval Cartouche Strap Screw-insert type: Inset circular brass disc with one steel securing screw. Finger-rest: Brass sheet, no leather cladding, very corroded. Fret Condition: Fair - some LH damage. Damage Summary: Later West Street thumb-straps, bellows leather, and reed-tongues. Case missing |
