Full Description: 48-Key silver-mounted and inlaid, ebony -veneer-ended George Case "English" concertina, with the "Boosey & Ching" version of the George Case scalloped label in silver, inset into the scalloped cartouche. This instrument, with the special Serial Number 3000, spent most of its life in the USA, and has lavish engraved solid silver inlays, including corner pieces to both levels of the Fret and Action frames, engraved finger-rests metals, and a silver shield to prevent wear from thumb area of fretwork. Both the Geo Case label and the owner's name "J Tallerman" are of silver inset to the ebony fretwork. The corner pieces resemble the silver toe-caps on Western-style boots. There is a repairer's message pencilled on the inner baffle: "May 14 1903 - repaired by E Roe, Los Angeles, Cal, U. S. A." (Los Angeles was barely a small village in 1903! No Serial number on LH chamois baffle, but No 3000 on frets and action, and No 3000 on pans and the bellows-frame. 48 solid-silver capped nickel keys, bushed, round-ended reeds. Double-sided reed pan, with a simple hexagonal sub-pan baffle screwed to the inner face of the pans. Black deep-framed leather bellows and replacement RH thumb-strap (LH Strap absent). No case.
