Summary

Full Description: 48-Key brass-mounted, amboya-veneer-ended George Case "English" concertina No 3660, 48 solid-silver capped nickel keys, bushed, round-ended steel reeds, in a double-reed pan with complex sub-pan baffle. It has the Boosey & Co., Holles Street version of the George Case scalloped label, on grained chamois sub-fret baffle. Gilt-embossed green leather bellows, but later crude thumb-straps, superb original Amboyna-veneered case, with fine brass corner inset mounts to every corner and edge. The case's Lock, embouchure and embouchure are missing, top-strap a crude replacement.

Main Maker's Label Wording: "Patent concertina by George Case, Boosey and Co., Holles St, London".

Principal Serial Number: 3360 is scratched on lower RH Action frame veneer, but NOT on LH chamois baffle, nor is it stamped on any other inner parts; it is, however, marked in pencil on the inner face of the action board and the interior sub-pan baffle board.

Boosey & Co. were active from about 1856 after taking over the business of George Case

Boosey & Co.instruments are labelled as George Case of Boosey and ... where the name has variations including Boosey and Sons (by 1864), Boosey and Chin(g) and Boosey and Co. The earlier company address is Holles Street,London, and they moved to Regent St about 1874.
