Main Case: Original hexagonal Rosewood-veneered case,with green on white engraved paper "John Alvey Turner" label in lid. Chamfered-edged solid rosewood lid, velvet-lining, brass lock, no key or cartouche, unusual 6-screw hinges, top-strap missing.

Main Case Shape: Hexagonal

Main Case Measurement: 181 x 164mm tall

Main Case Material: Original hexagonal amboyna-veneered case, flat veneered amboyna lid, velvet-lining, brass lock, no key but large circular pearl cartouche, top-strap missing.

Main Case Inner Label: A green on white engraved paper label of "John Alvey Turner, Manufacturer, No 19, Poultry, London". There is also an impressed John Alvey Turner stamp in the centre of the lid of the case.

Main Case Lock: Lock, brass, no embouchure.

Main Case Hinges: Two long brass hinges, 6 steel screws each.

Main Case Straps: Original top strap missing.
