Keys/Buttons Base Mounting: No washer. Turned bottom pegs of the bone buttons enter directly to holes in the clipped "House Shaped" action plinth of the action board.

Air Button method: The Air key acts upon a brass wire poking through the frets, that passes through the action board and acts upon a spring-loaded air valve flap on the inner face of the RH reed pan.
