Reeds and Reed Pans

Reed Pans Summary: Two-section radial arrangement of reed chambers, with large reed-free areas either side of the pan, with large circular air-valve hole to RH pan.

Reed Pans Main Labels: None.

Reed Pans Stamps: None.

Reed Pans Serial Numbers: None.

Reed Pans Gasketry: pale yellow chamois.

Reed Pans Right Hand Cross Pieces: Cross-pieces with chamois caps to each of the ten outer chambers per pan.

Reed Pans Left Hand Cross Pieces: Cross-pieces with chamois caps to each of the ten outer chambers per pan.

Reeds Summary: 40 wedge profiled round-ended brass reed frames, 10 on each side of each reed pan. Round-end frames, with steel tongues each secured by two small domed brass screws. There are NO note-names stamped on the reed-frames, and the frames' cross-pieces have open sides, a feature of all Nickolds-made reeds frames.

Reed Frame Material: Brass.

Reed Tongue Material: Steel.

Reed Frame Shape: Tapered round-ended brass reed frames with "Nickolds-style" open-sided cross pieces.There are NO note-names stamped on the reed-frames, and the frames' cross-pieces have open sides, a feature of all Nickolds-made reeds frames.

Reed Tongue Profile: Parallel.

Reed Securing Screws: Two brass screws, into open-sided "Nickolds-style" cross pieces.

Stamps on Reed Frames: NO note-names stamped on reed-frames.
