Labels and Serial NumbersLabel Within Cartouche on chamois baffle: The original outer "George Jones" label is replaced with a later Salvationist Supplies oval gilt-on-black label, glued under frets since baffles absent. Other Serial Numbers: The shorter possibly Batch Number "86" stamped on inner rim of frets. Serial Number mounted on End: No baffles, no LH serial number present Serial Number Under Frets: The short, possibly Batch Number "86" stamped on inner rim of frets. Serial Number On Action Board: Serial number 21086 on inner face of action board, on inner rim. Serial Number On Pans: Serial number 21086, on inner face of reed-pans, together with L or R, above central hole. Serial Number On Bellows Frame: Serial number 21086, on top corner of bellows-frame. Dealer's Labels Summary: Large rectangular dealer's label, on inner face of Action Boards, for “J J Vickers, Specialist in Steel Reeds, est 1887, Dealer in New and second-hand English Duet and Anglo concertinas. Repairs, Music and Exchanges. 82 Royal Hill, Greenwich, London S. E.”. Further pencilled labels and notes on inner face of RH Action Board “SA 1855 G. T. 14-4-48. H Dean.” H Dean was another concertina dealer in early 20th century London. The other end has similar Dean scribbles, with the date 19th Sept 1918, and another later inked stamp for J J Vickers, with different wording - “J J Vickers, New and second-hand, Concertinas English, Anglo & Duet. Sole Agent for real Italian Accordians. 82 Royal Hill, Greenwich, London S. E.”. The dreaded accordian now beginning to penetrate the market for British-made concertinas!
