Full Description: A first edition of “The Electric Telegraph – a social and economic history, by Jeffrey Kieve, 1973, David and Charles, Newton abbot, 1973”. Early chapters include much about Wheatstone, the dispute with Cooke, and later developments. The telegraphy sections of the Collection (NC.1.1.2 and NC.1.2.1) include many original papers, pamphlets and devices related to Wheatstone & Cooke’s telegraph.
