Reeds and Reed Pans

Reed Pans Summary: Simple radial 12-chambered pans, thick green chamois gasketry. Not until the time of manufacture of 'No 38' were routed channels in the wood of the reed-pans introduced to accommodate the reeds' frames, which henceforth became the standard method of fitting reeds into reed-pans.

Reed Pans Stamps: L & R, plus note-names stamped adjacent to each reed in the outer chambers.

Reed Pans Serial Numbers: XXXV111

Reed Pans Gasketry: Thick green chamois

Reeds Summary: 48 square-ended brass reeds, parallel-sided, with btass tongues secured by single large brass screw.

Reed Frame Material: Brass - rectangular, not tapered

Reed Tongue Material: Brass

Reed Frame Shape: Rectangular

Reed Tongue Profile: parallel

Reed Securing Screws: One large brass screw
