Thumb-straps Summary: Original thin green leather thumb-straps. The LH strap has been left in its distressed condition, to show that the thin leather strips to either side have within then two inset "stiffener-strips", one of linen, and one of cuttings from an old parchment document, with the original inked writing still visible.

Thumb-straps Screws & Fittings: Two original flat disc nickel strap-screws with sides cut to give more finger-grip, 17mm diameter, with original large green leather washers. A first appearance of Circular, rather than rectangular, inset brass screw-fittings to sides, each secured by a single brass screw.
