Main Case Material: Original "stretched Octagon" rosewood-veneered case, finely-grained, and with a thick solid bevelled rosewood lid.
Main Case Lock: A two-clasp brass lock with Ivory embouchure.
Main Case Hinges: Two long 6-screw Brass hinges, each stamped "P Moore Registered Sep 1844." A first use by Wheatstones of this longer version of these popular hinges.
Main Case Straps: Later top strap fitted - a steel lined leather strap screwed to ornate gilt roundels.
