End FretsSummary: A machine-cut pattern of hexagonal chamfered-edged single-ply, mahogany with embouchures for maker's label and for a serial number (both present), and the "trefoil" pattern to the lower areas of each end's frets, in common with most later Nickolds' instruments.The fretwork-frame and action frame are solid mahogany. End Shape: Hexagonal End Sides: Six End Diameter: 157mm End-Profile: Flat, with chamfered edge End Material: Solid Mahogany. End Bolts: Medium-height domed cheese-head brass bolts, securing the fretwork end to the action frame and bellows. Fret Pattern: Oval RH label cartouche, smaller oval LH number cartouche. Label Embouchure Pattern: Oval to RH, small oval to LH Strap Screw-insert type: No inserts - screws direct to action frame. Finger-rest: Curved-end brass finger-rests, later cladding to RH metal only. Three securing screws. . Fret Condition: Some scratching. Damage Summary: Case lid relined; later top-strap, thumb-straps absent. |
