Item Type: Post Card - Bands - West End Minstrels

Summary

Full Description: A 1930s photo postcard of "The West End Minstrels" of Morecambe, Lancashire, postally used on 7th June 1938.  The five "Minstrels"  play Bones, Piano Accordion, Clarinet, Bass drum - and a fine Lachenal Maccann Edeophone Duet concertina, with metal ends, and with neck-strap. The five chaps are all "blacked-up", and the card promises "Performances Daily".  It may be that some of the musicians were members of one of the Lancashire Concertina Bands, still surviving around the county in the 1930s.
