Full Description: A modern reprint of "The Best of Fragments from France by Capt Bruce Bairnsfather". Bairnsfather was the leading cartoonist of the First World War, and many of his cartoons included concertina-playing soldiers in the trenches. This edition, by Tonie and Valmai Holt, publ: Phin Publishing 1978. Page 57 includes an image of the 'lads' singing along to a concertina player, just after leaving the trenches. The noted repairer, player and one-time Lachenal & Co tuner Tommy Williams took his concertina to the trenches of WW1, and led his pals up to the front line with his playing.
