End Frets

Summary: Flat solid rosewood, hand-cut pattern: a more fancy annular design of hand-cut frets with red felt bushings and extra fretting to corners, and a tiny central hole right in the centre (possibly where the scribing-tool or compass marked out the boundaries of the annular ring of fretwork). Large area of good quality replaced frets to RH end.

End Shape: Hexagon.

End Sides: Six.

End Diameter: 183.5 mm.

End-Profile: Flat.

End Material: Solid rosewood ends, veneered over mahogany fret- and action-frames.

End Bolts: Medium cheese-head brass bolts, 3 missing to LH, 2 missing to RH end.

Fret Pattern: Hand-cut, more complex Scates pattern with extra dainty cutouts near each corner..

Label Embouchure Pattern: None remains - replaced with new fret-repair area.

Strap Screw-insert type: Inset circular brass disc, with one steel securing screw. (but no straps!)

Finger-rest: Missing: both had three securinmg screws.

Fret Condition: RH frets much repaired with good finely cut rosewood fretting.

Damage Summary: Some fret repairs. The thumb-straps, maker label, finger-rests all missing. Re-lined case, later strap, modern locks.
