Fret Baffle
Action Board Sub-fret Baffles: Hexagonal sub-fret pine board. Also, an additional white chamois leather sheet, as used as sub-fret baffle on later instruments when the pine boards option was supercededed, is glued across the entire inner surface of each pine board, presumably to muffle or dampen the sound levels or overtones.
